My Lords,
We have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Hamilton's letter of 13th Instant, transmitting a letter from the Colonial Office, enclosing a copy of a Despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong upon the subject of the deductions from the salaries of Civil Servants in that Colony being carried to the credit of the Imperial Government, and requesting that we will inform your Lordships whether any abatements on account of the Superannuation Fund, from the salaries of the Civil Servants at Hong Kong, when those salaries became payable from the Colonial Revenue have been paid into the Treasury Chest, and subsequently paid over to the Exchequer, and if the abatements made since the dates when the salaries were from time to time discontinued from the Parliamentary Grant, viz, from 1854/5 to the date of the abolition of the abatements in 1857,
